City Administrator
The City Administrator serves as the city's chief administrative officer and is responsible for the overall management of the city’s operations. This position works under the direction of the Mayor and City Council to implement their policies and ensure the efficient and effective delivery of city services. The City Administrator advises the Mayor and City Council on the city's financial condition and future needs and provides leadership to department heads and staff.
Dwayne Flowers, appointed in 2020, brings over 30 years of dedicated public service to his role as the City Administrator of Wadley, Georgia. With an extensive background in law enforcement, including 30 years as a police officer and eight as a Chief of Police, Dwayne's leadership and strategic vision have been instrumental in enhancing city operations and community welfare. His tenure in Wadley is marked by a commitment to excellence, innovation, and transparent governance, ensuring the efficient delivery of city services such as water, sewer, police, fire, and recreation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the administration of all city departments, ensuring compliance with all city ordinances, policies, and regulations.
- Prepare and present the annual city budget for approval by the City Council, monitor and administer the approved budget, and ensure financial stability.
- Serve as a liaison between the Mayor, City Council, and city staff, facilitating communication and policy implementation.
- Coordinate and direct developing and implementing strategic plans, projects, and initiatives to meet the city's goals.
- Provide professional advice to the Mayor and City Council on all matters affecting the city’s operations and welfare.
- Represent the city in negotiations and serve as a representative at meetings, conferences, and other events.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality services to the community, promoting a positive image of the city.
- Supervise, direct, and evaluate the performance of department heads and other direct reports.
- Stay informed of federal, state, and local legislation and regulations affecting city operations and ensure compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Mayor and City Council.
